NJPE Girls Hockey what's next?

NJPE Girls Hockey Family,

With the 2017-18 season winding down, I'd like to truly thank everyone for their involvement with the girls program this past year. Our program has grown by leaps and bounds and now surpasses what other organizations are trying to build. Its though everyone's efforts and dedication that we have come so far in such as short amount of time.

With the current season ending and tryouts around the corner, now is the best time to communicate what options our girls program will have available for next year.

The program is planning to field the following teams:

Girls 10U/12U

 Tina Rodriguez

 & Erik Ostertag

For more information about each team, the coaches, and their season plans please see below.

At this point in the season it is a good idea to connect with each of these coaches and have a conversion about what teams and options are available for your daughter. There may be situations where your daughter may have options of playing on or above her age level, and there may not be, as this is a coach and family decision. But, please find out as much as you can and be educated with what your options are. As parents we always do what is best for our children.  As an organization, we respect that. The one thing I would ask is that you do what is best for your child. Listen to your child, and do what you believe they will enjoy the most.

Again, thank you so much for everything you have put into the program and girls hockey. The organization is truly looking forward to what comes next!

Tina Rodriguez & Erik Ostertag

Erik and Tina have been involved with the NJPE hockey family for many years. They both have experience with the instructional and mite program.  Tina is currently a coach with our Squirt program and Erik’s most recent experience was with the Midges 18U NTB team as an assistant coach.

Their goal is to help each player develop confidence, self-esteem and life long skills.  They have a clear understand of developmentally appropriate drills, communication, and behavior management. They will quickly learn players strengths and weakness and will build a positive rapport with each one. Their passion and drive, will help every player be successful on and off the ice.

Tina and Erik’s philosophy as a coach, is to help the growth and development of all young hockey players.  They will empower and inspire the athletes to achieve their highest potential and personal excellence through skill work, teamwork and fun in a safe and positive environment with respect.  Erik and Tina are role models for young females.  They emphasizes sportsmanship, dedication and hardwork.  These traits will provide players with life lessons, developing positive behaviors for future goals and challenges. They always puts the children first and will ensure all players enjoy hockey and have fun.

Greg Puff

Greg has been part of the Niagara Junior Purple Eagles youth hockey family for the last 4 years, primarily serving as a coach of various NJPE Girls hockey teams. Greg has not only embraced NJPE as a place to teach the great game of hockey to boys and girls alike, but he is also the proud father (and coach) of his own little NJPE hockey family, with 3 children currently in youth hockey programs at NU.

Greg’s coaching philosophy is centered on fostering a team first approach to the game, while building a culture of positive reinforcement and player-specific skill development, as every child’s growth curve and approach to the game is different.  Ultimately, Greg’s commitment to his players is to provide them with resources to develop/enhance their skill set, build long lasting friendships, have a ton of fun and position them for success in future years.
